Meet Bea Patterson

Dog Nutritionist for Small Breeds  |  Certified Holistic Pet Health Coach

If you've landed here, you're probably a dog parent who cares deeply about what goes into your small dog's bowl - and you're starting to wonder if there's a better way than the kibble bag from the pet store shelf.

There is. And I can show you exactly how to get there.

I'm Bea - a certified dog nutritionist for small breeds and holistic pet health coach. I work exclusively with small breed dog parents to create personalized fresh-food nutrition plans that address real issues: chronic itching, digestive problems, obesity, low energy, and breed-specific health conditions in dogs like Chihuahuas, Yorkies, Dachshunds, Shih Tzus, Pugs, and more.

My approach is practical, judgment-free, and built around your life - not some idealized version of it. Whether you cook every night or barely have time to eat yourself, I'll help you find a plan that works.

From burnout to breakthrough - to Reggie’s bowl

In 2019, a serious health scare landed me in the hospital. It was a turning point. I became obsessed with understanding nutrition - not just for managing symptoms, but for actually thriving. What I learned changed everything: real, whole food is the foundation of health. Processed food - no matter how convenient - is often the enemy of it.

Then one morning I looked down at Reggie, my beloved Scottie, eating his dry kibble, and the question hit me: if processed food is this damaging to us, why do we feed our dogs nothing but ultraprocessed pellets their entire lives?

I went looking for answers. What I found was eye-opening. Dogs can survive on kibble - but the research showed that most don't thrive on it. Coat issues, chronic inflammation, dental disease, obesity, early aging. So much of what we accept as "just how dogs are" is actually diet-related.

I trained as a canine nutritionist and holistic pet health coach, specializing in small breeds - the dogs most overlooked by generic nutrition advice. Small dogs live longer, age differently, and face health challenges that large-breed nutrition plans don't account for.

Today I help small breed dog parents do for their dogs what I did for myself: stop surviving on processed food, and start truly thriving on a diet that was designed for their body.

What makes working with Bea different

I specialize in small breeds - only. I'm not a generalist who sees every kind of dog. My entire practice is built around the specific nutritional needs, health risks, and life stages of small and toy breed dogs. That focused expertise makes a real difference.

Zero judgment, all support. There's a surprising amount of guilt and judgment in the pet nutrition world. I've never found that helpful. Whether you're feeding premium kibble, trying raw, or have no idea where to start - you'll be met with practical advice, not a lecture.

You leave with a real plan. Not a list of tips. Not a PDF of generic guidelines. Every consultation produces a written, personalized plan: balanced recipes, supplement recommendations, a transition guide, and answers to all your questions.

Rooted in science, grounded in real life. My recommendations are research-backed and calibrated to what's actually sustainable for a real family. I'm not here to make dog nutrition harder than it needs to be.
